initial consultation

We discuss your objectives and budget and ensuring that the garden design process is understood and agreed. You can use the Initial Consultation Preparation questions to explore how you feel about your garden space. Following the initial consultation, you will receive a proposal including your design objectives.

design concept

A Survey of your garden will establish the size and shape of the plot and include information about any level changes and existing services. The survey is essential to prepare the design and enable accurate estimates. The site survey drawing will become the basis for the design along with the Client Brief.

The site survey will include the collection of soil samples, pictures and site data information for the Site Data Analysis.

Once the survey is drawn up and the Client Brief is returned signed, I can begin the garden design. A rendered Concept Plan (describing the various new elements of the garden), a Site Data Analysis (showing the site conditions), and a Mood Board (to communicate the feel of materials and plants) will be provided to you.

After further discussion with you, the concept plan can be revised. When the plan is finalised, an estimate detailing the cost for the construction of the various parts of the garden will be created.

design build (hardscape)

Prior to the hard landscaping, a set of detailed Construction Drawings, Setting Out Plan, Specification and the Tender Documentation are sent to contractors to quote against. Project monitoring visits during the build ensures that the project is proceeding to plan.

design planting

Planting Plans for the garden will be created once the hard landscape build is underway. A Maintenance Schedule for the garden guides you with the caring of your new garden.

planting (plants and labour)

A proposal for plants, planting sundries and labour is provided once the Planting Plan is agreed.
